Hiking at Waimano Valley / Day 22 of 365

Today I went out hiking with Sarah and Kevin at Waimano Valley!

It was a pretty quick 2 hour hike. The mountains were full of rain and clouds but the trees kept us dry. It was nice to have some cloud coverage; Hawaii has been really hot lately. There were 4 or 5 caves along the trail that were pretty cool to look at. They just went alongside the trail for about 100 feet each time. No idea why they exist.

Overall, it was a nice time to get away and spend some time with friends and the trees. No big fancy words today, just a few pictures. Hope you are all having a wonderful start to your week!

Tonight I had theĀ ethereal experience of meeting with Joel Robison, Sarah Ann Loreth, and Shane Black. Many people feel distant from those who inspire them because they see them on screens. They watch them on TV or hear about them on the internet. There’s always some barrier to be transcended and these people always feel so far away.

Lately in the photo community, these barriers have started to fall. Photographers like The Wild Ones go out and support other artists. They teach and encourage us to follow our dreams. By meeting with them tonight, they’ve made the art community feel so much closer for me. I can’t thank them enough for taking time to come visit and I’ll definitely be writing more about this tomorrow! Hope you are all having a wonderful night!

Vlog for Days (with Sarah Nieman)

Wow, today was my first day that video editing dragged on and cut into my sleeping. Right now I really should be in bed but my project is exporting from Premier Pro Elements and is estimated to take another 30 minutes. I’m not sure if I’m going to stay awake for it or head to bed. The video will be here tomorrow nonetheless – so nothing to worry about.

Sarah Nieman and I teamed up quickly during a Skype call to ramble about community and getting with other artists. It’s nice to ramble with other people and Sarah is a fantastic person to talk to. I hope that you will take a minute to listen to our rambles!

Sorry if the video comes out a little funky. I just learned so much about Premier in the last hour. It’s so different than Photoshop and still completely new to me!
